What is AdFlight?

AdFlight is a user-friendly way to send artwork to the AdFast Internet-based artwork transmission system.

It provides a single location from which you can register with the AdFast server, download an up-to-date list of titles using AdFast to receive their artwork, and create, pre-flight, and transmit your artwork to your selected titles.

AdFast accepts files in Adobe's PDF format. PDF files (sometimes called Acrobat files), are an industry-standard format for digital artwork. Adobe's Acrobat Reader software - used to view PDF files - is freely available for download from their website, but is not sufficient to create your own PDF files. To do this, you require PDF authoring software. AdFlight works in combination with PDF authoring tools to create PDF files from your original artwork which are then checked (or "pre-flighted") to ensure they meet the receiving title's requirements for digital artwork. AdFlight greatly simplifies the process of creating PDF files, by handling for you all the details of generating and checking the file.

AdFlight is available in two versions: a Personal Edition and a Professional Edition. Both versions are freely available for download from the AdFast website, but use different PDF authoring tools to create PDF files.

The Personal Edition uses Adobe™ PressReady™ to create PDF files. Adobe have generously agreed to allow AdFast to supply licenses for this product to registered AdFast users, free of charge. This makes it an ideal solution for those who wish to send artwork via AdFast, but cannot justify expenditure on PDF creation software.

The Professional Edition uses Adobe™ Distiller™ to create PDF files. This software is available for purchase from Adobe resellers as part of the full Adobe™ Acrobat™ software package. Distiller™ provides a more flexible way of creating PDF files, so the Professional Edition offers additional features to the Personal Edition.

Both versions of the software use Markzware's MarkzNet product to pre-flight PDF files. A fully licensed copy of this software is included in the AdFlight installation package.
