Hastings 4 Haiti

Home Page | Donate an Artwork | List of Donations | Pictures of the Donations

On January 12th 2010 an earthquake hit Haiti causing devastation to millions. The latest estimates are 230,000 people killed, 300,000 injured and 1.2 million were left needing emergency shelter. Survivors lost family, homes, livelihoods and essential services. Hospitals, schools and government buildings were all destroyed. They are in need of long term support.

A group of volunteers came together to look at ways we could facilitate a fund raising event. It was decided to hold an art sale, auction and book sale.

This first event will take place on Sunday March 28th at St Mary in the Castle. The bookstall and viewing of the artwork will start from 12 noon, with the art sale itself starting at 4pm. There will be an auction of special art pieces by Steve Furst at 5pm.

The bookstall will be run by Nick Hanna and will include a special section of signed first editions by published Hastings writers, the majority of which will be for sale at £10.

You can see a list of those donating their work here, and pictures of some of the donations here.

If you are an artist, writer, craftsperson or local business person, we would love you to donate a piece worth at least £50.00. (Most pieces will sell for a set fee of £50.00.)

We have arranged 3 drop off times and days for donations. Please attach your name and contact number/email and title of piece securely to it so we know who to credit on the label.

Drop-off address: 6 Wellington Square
